QotD: Happy President's Day!
Ever run for office? (School, club, organization, politics, etc.) Did you get elected?
Funny you should ask.
When I was in 11th grade, I ran for some student council office (I think it was secretary). I was having a hard time coming up with a campaign slogan, so my friend and her mom decided to help. My friend's mom came up with what would ultimately help me loose the election but gain a lifelong nickname that still is what most people I know call me (except my parents, a few friends, and my church folks).
I only wish I still had some of the old posters we made 14 years ago...
Imagine a somewhat crude drawing of a steam engine on some RR tracks. It has a big puff of smoke coming out of the top, and in the puff is my slogan: CHOOZ SOOZ for Student Council Secretary.
Oh, it gets better.
There were others that read things like, "Chooz Sooz, she's neato mosquito." Or "Chooz Sooz, she's neato burrito." Or, there was my personal favorite which didn't really stay "on message" that said this: "You're cruzin' for a bruisin' if you don't vote for Susan." That one didn't work out too well because it was totally unbelievable.
As shocking as this may be, I didn't win. Even with a great slogan like that, I still lost the election. It was a good thing, really, because I have no business in politics. I'm glad I learned that lesson early.
